Dr. B. L. Patil, born in 1975, in Gulbarga district of Karnataka state did his schooling in Sainik School, Bijapur (Karnataka State). Later he pursued his undergraduate and post-graduate studies in Agriculture, with specialization in Genetics and Plant Breeding from University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Dharwad in Karnataka. Later, Dr. B. L. Patil did his PhD from Department of Plant Molecular Biology, University of Delhi (South Campus), during 2001-2005. During his PhD, he worked in a European Union funded programme on geminiviruses, in collaboration with John Innes Centre, Norwich, UK. During his PhD, he received DAAD scholarship to work in University of Stuttgart, Germany. He did his Post-Doctoral research in Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, St. Louis, USA (2006-2010) and contributed for the characterization of cassava viruses from Africa and development of Virus Resistant transgenic Cassava. Briefly he returned to India to join as Scientist-D, in the DBT institute National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI), located in Mohali. However to continue his research career in Plant Virology, he moved to University of Basel, Switzerland (2011-12), to work on characterization of cassava viruses from India in an Indo-Swiss programme. Since 2012, he is working as a Senior Scientist in the ICAR-National Research Centre on Plant Biotechnology (ICAR-NRCPB), New Delhi, India. He was the first molecular virologist to join NRCPB and he initiated research on Pigeonpea sterility mosaic virus, an emerging Emaravirus. He also received funding from ICAR-NPTC and DBT-BIPP for transgenic control of papaya and cotton viruses. He has published extensively in reputed journals, and has several book chapters to his credit and also edited few books. He has also trained several research scholars from Africa, Americas and India in the area of Molecular Plant Virology and RNA-interference technology. He has received several fellowships and grants during his research career and was honoured with the IVS Fellow Award by the Indian Virological Society in 2014 in recognition with his contribution to the area of Plant Virology. During 2016-17 he received scholarship from the European Union funded Erasmus Mundus program to carry short term research in a European university under the BRAVE project.

Dr. H. Rahman is currently holding the position of Regional Representative for South Asia, Regional Representative for South Asia, International Livestock Research Institute, New Delhi. Before joining ILRI, Dr. Rahman was Deputy Director General (Animal Sciences), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi. He earlier worked as Director, ICAR-National Institute of Veterinary Epidemiology & Disease Informatics (NIVEDI), Bengaluru, Joint Director, ICAR-Research Complex for NEH Region, Gangtok and Head of the Division, Veterinary Public Health, Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly (U.P) and ICAR-Research Complex for NEH Region, Shillong. He also worked as visiting scientist at Robert Koch Institute, Germany. Dr Rahman has an impressive and well-rounded global research experience, covering many aspects of veterinary sciences, especially, the role of animal health for improved productivity. He obtained obtained his PhD in Microbiology and Public Health and Post-Doctoral training from Robert Koch Institute, Germany and University of Utah, USA. He has a substantial publication record, has supervised many students and has received a number of national and international awards including the DBT – Product Development and Commercialization Award, etc. He visited many countries on official assignments like Germany, Australia, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, France, Bhutan, Nepal, United States of America, Bangladesh, Kenya, Ethiopia, etc.

Dr. Kavya Dashora, Assistant Professor, Indian Institute of Technology (New Delhi) Dr. Kavya Dashora is currently working as an Assistant Professor at CRDT, IIT Delhi and her research areas include Biosensors, proteomic studies, Non chemical agricultural pest management, microarthropods, Bt formulations, innovative resource management cultivation techniques, Rural outreach, monitoring and impact assessment, International trade agreements and industry production standards. She did her PhD from CAZRI, Jodhpur in the year 2005 and then she joined National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources. She is also PRINCE2 qualified from United Kingdom and has international certification course on Monitoring, Evaluation & Impact assessment and Gender assessment in technology dissemination from United Kingdom. After few years at NBPGR, she joined a UN organization for Commonwealth Agriculture as scientist. During her work as Scientist, Senior Scientist and Deputy Director-Science in commonwealth countries she had a vast exposure in agricultural countries of South Asia, South East Asia and Africa working on sustainable resource management for food security, developing low cost technologies for food security, implementing sustainable development goals, addressing the issues related to international trade and climate change, etc. She had been a technical consultant to several United Nations projects in different countries of Asia Pacific. She developed the first ever biocontrol lab with Plant Protection Department of Royal Bhutan Government at Thimpu; Helped Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation of Afghanistan to develop biological control technology , post-harvest management techniques and their outreach for fruit farmers; developed technologies and conducted training programmes on post-harvest management in the light of climate change in Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, etc.

Dr. L.K. Pandey (born 1st June, 1963) an MSc, PhD (Botany) is the Managing Director of Ananya Seeds Private Limited, with vast experience of more than twenty six years in variegated roles such as Hybrid Seed Production, Quality Management, Export-Import, Sales and Marketing, Supply Chain Management, Agri-Business Development, Liaisoning, Government Seed Subsidy schemes, Training and Development of Agribusiness Professionals, New Business Opportunities etc. His contribution in development of Agribusiness in general and Indian Seeds Industry in particular, across the country is well known. He also enriched the seed industry by bringing very rich knowledge from global seed industry. He promotes good agricultural practices done globally. He has traveled and worked in countries like Newzealand, Ghana, Malayasia, Thailand, US, UK, Singapore etc. He is known for working towards global food security and empowering the farming community through high quality seeds. He has served as Head of seed production as well as sales and marketing in the leading seed company of India. He passionately works at grass-root level to increase the farm productivity. His current passion is to mentor and coach young agripreneurs and start-up businesses. Being an active member in various industry associations like ASSOCHAM, CII, AIMA, PHDCCI, NSAI, he keeps contributing in several national and international conferences and meetings. He is on the panel of Delhi School of Economics, GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology-Pantnagar, National Institute of Agricultural Marketing-Jaipur, MANAGE-Hyderabad, Banaras Hindu University-Varanasi. He is also associated with various business management institutes, international organizations, and agricultural universities as resource person and mentor. His venture, Ananya Seeds has won several awards such as AIMA-Dr.J.S.Juneja award, CII industrial innovation award, 2015 and awards from RMAI (Flame Asia Award), IARI, HAU-Hisar and Pantnagar University. The company was also announced at World Economic Forum, Davos as finalist in Time-India award 2017 for Sustainability Pioneer start up. He is recipient of ’50 Most Influential Rural Marketing Professional Award, 2017’ from CMO and Rural Marketing Forum, Mumbai. Manish Roorkiwal, is the Scientist – Genomics and Molecular Breeding, International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), based in Hyderabad, India. With a basic background in molecular genetics and applied genomics Dr. Roorkiwal got his PhD in Biotechnology from GGSIP University, Delhi. With more than 10 years of research experience he focuses on improving crop productivity of legumes in marginal environments in Africa and Asia using modern genetics and breeding approaches including genomic selection and GWAS. Dr. Roorkiwal has been conferred with the prestigious INSPIRE Faculty Award by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. After joining ICRISAT, he has been working in the area of genomics and molecular breeding with a special emphasis on next generation sequencing technology including SNP genotyping and whole genome re-sequencing. He has been using the modern breeding approaches such as genomic selection for address the issue of low productivity in chickpea. In his current role as Scientist-Genomics and Molecular Breeding, he has been working as an Interface between ICRISAT Genomics and Breeding program for deploying markers in the routine breeding and also working towards initiation of Forward Breeding in ICRISAT.

During her tenure as a senior official in the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests & Climate Change, Government of India, Dr. Warrier has held key positions in a range of departments representing multiple disciplines. As a result, her knowledge base and exposure to the issues of concern is wide and in depth. Her areas of specialization are Biosafety Assessment of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). She is also known for her management acumen, as is evident in her deft handling of programs and activities related to environmental conservation and sustainable development of the fragile Himalayan ecosystems.

Dr. Warrier, as a resource person, offers a combination of skills. She is a competent technical expert, with a natural flair for creating and executing communication and management strategies. From playing the role of the key negotiator in the multilateral environmental agreements, to dealing with Public Interest Litigations, Dr. Warrier is a sincere professional who is known for her versatility and commitment.

Dr. Shivendra Bajaj is the Executive Director of the Association of the Biotech Led Enterprises- Agriculture Focus Group (ABLE-AG). With over 20 years of experience in the field of biotechnology, Dr. Bajaj joins ABLE – AG from DuPont Pioneer where he held positions of National Biotech Regulatory Cooperation Lead and China and Asia Pacific Regulatory Science and Operations Lead and was responsible for generation of data required for the approval of biotech crops in Asia Pacific countries. Shivendra has worked several years overseas in the area of developing biotech crops and worked for Monsanto in India and was one of the key members of team responsible for regulatory approval of insect resistant Bt cotton in India. He has a Ph.D. in Genetics from University of Delhi, South Campus and was recipient of the Rockefeller Foundation Post- Doctoral Fellowship in rice to work in Cornell University, USA on rice biotechnology

Dr. Shiv Kant Shukla is currently working as the Dy. General Manager in Biotech Consortium India Limited (BCIL), New Delhi. He has done MSc and PhD in Biotechnology. He has more than 18 years of diversified experience covering research, production of tissue culture plants, field extension, quality management, biotech parks, technology transfer, administration and management of science projects.

Dr. Shukla has more than 50 publications, chaired/delivered 13 invited/key note speech. He has successfully organized 10 Entrepreneurship development programme (EDP) and 20 conferences.

At present Dr. Shukla is heading the NCS-TCP Management Cell, Indo-Afirca Project on Plant Tissue Culture and working for Biotech Parks of many States. He has contributed significantly in setting up of National Certification System for Tissue Culture Plants (NCS-TCP) in the country which is the unique quality management system for plant tissue culture sector.
